Mothers Day Announcement!

What better day than Mothers Day to announce that I am going to be a Mommy!

Our little peanut was only 6weeks 1day in that picture but we are now almost 9 weeks.

I tried to wait as long as possible to announce our news, hence not blogging in forever, but I just could not wait any longer. Our first appointment with my OBGYN was at 6 weeks 1 day, although we thought I would have been almost eight weeks. I've mentioned already that my body does what it wants right? It clearly ovulates whenever it wants, which was very late.

We were a little nervous when the ultrasound tech said how far along we were. We wanted to see that little heartbeat so bad and thought it might be too early. But then she point to that little flickering bean and then we cried. The first heartbeat we have ever seen. Our little miracle.

A few days later we went to see a MFM (Maternal Fetal Medicine) doctor by recommendation of my OB just to keep a closer eye on this pregnancy. We were not only able to see the heartbeat but we got to hear it as well. What an amazing feeling. All of my blood work and ultrasounds have come back completely normal and no one is worried thus far.

I feel absolutely AMAZING! But let me clarify that my current version of amazing = nauseous, extremely bloated, always tired, and a bit on the moody side. It's amazing though because it is all so normal.

I hope that everyone is having a wonderful Mothers Day! We sure did :)

Girls vs. Boys

Yesterday, the hubs and a group of his friends had their second annual live fantasy football draft. Such nerds right? They all gather at one of their houses (last year it was ours and let's just say never. again.) with their laptops and plenty of beer in hand. I dropped the hubs off around 2:30pm (because I'm his mommy?).
While the guys were drafting for their fantasy teams, drinking beer, swimming and being all smelly, all of the ladies got together for a yummy potluck dinner, wine, cupcakes, and a chick flick. It was such a perfect little Saturday night with some of my favorite ladies. We were able to unwind and enjoy some much needed girl time.

I was in charge of the appetizer for the evening and I decided to try something a little different (as apposed to my usual spinach dip). I went with fruit/cheese kebobs with a strawberry and cream cheese kind of dip. It was very simple, tasty and quick.
Other things on the menu for the night were a delicious mushroom, tomato, spinach and olive oil pasta, salad, garlic bread, wine and cupcakes for dessert! All of this plus girl talk, 17 Again, and Keep Up with the Kardashians made for the perfect girls night in!

After we finished off all of the goodies, we headed over to where the guys were to crash their party drive them home and take incriminating photos of them. When we arrived we could hear and smell them from down the street. Why are guys so smelly? It smelled like a high school football locker room in there. so gross.

Overall I think it was a great night for everyone :)

They say third times a charm, right?

You may recall a time or two that I mentioned how little patience I have. Well I promise that what I am about to talk about has nothing to do with aforementioned impatience and was actually well thought out and discussed at length. So there.

We are officially trying to make a baby again! Woohoo!

We are in no hurry, it will happen whenever it is supposed to happen. We are just glad to be trying again and hoping for the best. So please keep us in your thoughts and prayers!

When we do get pregnant again (and we will, because my body loves to get pregnant apparently) we will share the news when we are ready. Knowing us that probably wont be too long either as I'm sure you already know if you've read my post about our big mouths. So please don't ask me every day "Are you pregnant yet?" or any other variation of it because that is no fun. If I am pregnant I won't be able to lie to you (terrible, terrible liar) and I want to give our news on our own terms and if I'm not, well than I will either be angry or cry (neither of which are pretty). But as far as everything else goes, I am an open book so ask away! We can talk about cycles and how much I despise AF and her visits or baby related stuff (names, colors, birth, clothes, ah! I love it!) or how much fun it is just trying to make a baby (sorry mom for that visual but you kinda know that has to happen in order for a baby to appear nine months later). I think you get it though, we can talk, it's cool.

Wish us luck!

ps- Thought I would include a little conversation that happened while I was writing this between me, the hubs and Wentworth. Just for giggles. And remember, like Planet Fitness, this is a judgement free zone.

As Wentworth jumps right on the hubs "delicate" area

Hubs: "Wentworth! Easy there! Don't crush my nuts we're trying to make a baby!"

Me: "We should get you a nut protector or something"

Hubs: ::giving me the side eye:: "You mean like a cup?"

Me: ::buries face in pillow:: "Oh, yeah..."

Meet Mr. & Mrs. Big Mouth

Remember that semi-secret we had? You know, the one about us baking a baby? The one that we weren't going to shout to world just yet? Well we gave it a shot but it just didn't work out.

It turns out that we don't do so well with the whole "secret" thing. That is unless the definition of secret has recently been changed to: tell every single person you see. Although I'm pretty sure that's not the case. It's really not our fault at all, we can't control how excited we get, or the fact that someone asks us how we are doing or what we've been up to lately. It wouldn't be right to lie to these nice people so we just sit, squirming until someone asks us any sort of question that allows us to blurt out our exciting news.

I'll give you a little example of some of the questions that prompt our secret telling....

Friend 1: Hi! How are you?
Me: I'M PREGNANT!

Friend 2: What are you doing tomorrow night?
Me: I'M PREGNANT!

and sometimes....

Friend 3: Hi....
Me: I'M PREGNANT!

See not my fault, they pulled the secret right out of me! Nothing I could do really. Luckily, we have managed to keep it off of facebook and we would like to keep it that way. It's one thing for us to tell people that we see on a regular basis but it's a whole different story for the news to spread to the girl I had two classes with sophomore year of college or that I worked with 5 years ago. The least we can do is keep it limited to the people we actually speak with. That is until after the first trimester and then I will literally shout it to the world (or anyone who will listen). Although don't hold me to actually waiting until the second trimester.... you know that's very difficult for me. I will try though.

Absolutely Positive

I'm new to blogging but want to give it a try in order to document all of the changes going on in our lives right now and be able to share them with everyone. Here goes nothing....

After a couple of months of trying and many, many pregnancy tests (including 2 false negatives due to testing an entire week too early!) we found out on Saturday that WE'RE PREGNANT!!

I woke up early to test the first pee of the day, just like all the books and websites recommend, and was honestly going to go back to bed since my bladder woke me up way too early for a Saturday morning. As soon as I crawled back in bed my dear husband asked me the question that had been running through my mind and stealing all of my sleep and sanity for the last two weeks, "Are we having a baby?" After giving him a death grip hug I nervously put on my glasses (figured it's probably best not to hold something I peed on an inch away from my face) and strolled into the bathroom, picked up the stick, blinked rapidly several times, and then started screaming! I ran straight to the bed and began jumping and bouncing all over, trampling my innocent and drowsy husband.

We had decided only to tell a few close friends and our parents until after the first trimester. After our miscarriage last year, this just seemed like the best idea for us. That idea was wonderful except for the fact that a) I have a big mouth and b) my husbands mouth is apparently even bigger (who knew?!). Ok so maybe in normal circumstances he really doesn't have a big mouth at all but only a matter of hours after finding out we're going to be parents (squee!) we went to a beer fest. Hubby got drunk. excited. chatty. and all of a sudden BAM big mouth. Good news is that I'm pretty sure that, outside of our close group of friends, everyone else was too drunk by the time hubs turned into Mr. Big Mouth to remember.

So for now our "secret" is semi-safe. We'll see how long that lasts ;)
