Summer are you still there?

How in the world are we already half way through August? Preseason football is back, school has started up again, the Florida heat is in full force, and I am already pining for pumpkin bread and snuggly sweaters.

The hubs and I are trying to enjoy the summer, despite the heat, and headed to south Florida last week to visit the in-laws. It was a very nice and relaxing long weekend. I was hoping to get a little sun on my pasty skin and tried out my new maternity bathing suit.
As you can see my plan for a little tan clearly did not work. I am doomed to be a ghost :)

Due to exhaustion, pregnancy brain, and working too much I completely forgot to take a 22 week picture or do any sort of update. I will work on that for this week though!

Steppin' Out Sunday (because they're the best)

After working three twelve hour days in a row (not recommended) I was in need of a break. The hubs was sweet enough to let me sleep in and take care the pups this morning so I woke up feeling great!

We started the day off with a trip to the Farmers Market. Where we got a cute little UCF onesie for the peanut (the first thing we've bought!) and I got some stuffed olives, which made a reappearance a short while later and officially ruined olives for me for a while.

Next we headed to a new little place for lunch that someone recommended to the hubs called Tibby's. This place was AH-MAZING! It's a New Orleans style restaurant with delicious food and a really cool atmosphere. I ordered a fried crawfish po boy with a side of hush puppies and the hubs got roast beef po boy with sweet potato fries and jumbalaya. It was all so yummy!
Every Sunday they have a live band so this may be a new Sunday tradition for us (as long as the food continues to agree with peanut).
By the time we got home I was pretty exhausted so we just snuggled on the couch and had a little Netflix marathon followed by another great meal of steak dinners made by the best chef I know (the hubs of course).

A little sad the weekend is over already, especially since I only got one day of it this week. But we sure made the most of what we had. Now looking forward to Thursday when we get to see the peanut again!

Stache Bash!

Looking for a theme for an upcoming birthday? Look not further, "Mustache Bash" is where it's at. For one of the hubs best friends 27th birthday his lovely girlfriend planned him a mustache themed celebration. Men were encouraged to sport natural stache's but there was an ample supply of fake's for anyone who needed one. I channeled my inner villain for the night:
mwwwhahaha

With our mustaches in place we headed to a local bar for beer, dancing, pizza, and lots of laughs! There may have been a few strange looks from outsiders (especially in the ladies room) but mostly people were asking if we had any extra staches.

(notice the panda has one too!)
the hubs and I looking stache-tasic
birthday pizza, of course
and some very handsome ladies

Did you happen to notice that I was making the same pose in every picture? Yeahhhh about that. The mustache just completely took over, I didn't really have a choice. As soon as a camera was present, my hand automatically went to the corner of my luxurious mustache and an evil laugh came out.

The night was amazing and the hubs and I were definitely paying for it the next day. But it was totally worth it. I am being a complete blog-slacker today and skipping Happy Monday because the Stache Bash just had to be shared and now the house must be cleaned and there is a pile of fabric sitting in my sewing room just calling my name. Enjoy your Monday!

Favorite Things [Cruise Edition]

Sunsets on the top deck,
uninterrupted time with the hubs,
endless amounts of chocolate,
drinking the local Bahamian beer....and the results,
good company,
acting like a little kid,
getting a tan and a new toy,
the clear blue water and amazing views.

Happy Monday!

Happiness is....
family vacations!

I have always loved them. Even when I was in that awkward "parents aren't cool" phase, I still loved a good family vacation.
When I was little and living in Missouri, most of our family vacations were to the beach. Swimming in the ocean, collecting shells, trips to Disney World, pretending to be the little mermaid in the hotel pool, making shell necklaces. Amazing!
As I got older and we moved to our old vacation spot our destination ironically changed to Missouri. Cardinals games, shows in Branson, bumper boats, trips to the zoo and arch, visiting family and old friends. Again, amazing! We always drive and usually stop at fun places along the way. There's nothing like a road trip with the fam.

I can't wait to tell you all about our most recent family vaca when we return!

What's inside my beach bag?

Even though it is pouring down rain outside right now, I am still in the summer spirit. For most of us Floridians the summer sun means beach time! We haven't been able to make too many trips to the sandy paradise yet this summer but my beach bag is always ready to go. Lets take a look inside:
the bag (yeah it's VS but it's the only bag I own big enough for all our junk)
the sunscreens (body & face because my skin hates me) and lotion in case of sun overdose
my iphone so I can listen to my tunes and my sunglasses (for obvious reasons I hope)
either a volleyball, aerobie (like a frisbee but more fun), or a football
my favorite chap stick and our giant, two person Ron Jons towel (whatever it is awesome)
snacks (then again I don't go many places without snacks)
and last but not least a little lunch box cooler filled with water and occasionally some light beer, depending on our mood (although we bring normal sized cans not like the one pictured which appears to be on steroids)

See why I need the big bag? So maybe I over pack a little but I never hear anyone complaining while they enjoy all the goodies I brought. Can't wait for our next beach trip!
